UGVM Disc Drivin Season 6 - Good Luck

I've sent out tweets & posted on UGVM to the players in season 5 to confirm participation.

There are 4 leagues (Platinum, Gold, Silver & Bronze) with the winning player getting promoted & the worst getting demoted to a lower league.

Points are awarded from 4 or 3 (if a 3 player league) for 1st downwards to 1 point for last.


The 4 chosen tracks are all RC Raceway, Beachcomber (Mirror), I in the Sky & Frosty Mug. If you are in a 3 player league then you only play the first 3 tracks.

The first player in the league will start the first track RC Raceway & invite player 2, 3 & 4 in order.

Then Player 2 will start the next race on Beachcomber in Mirror mode & invite player 3, 4 & then 1.

Player 3 will start I in the Sky & invite Player 4, 1 & 2 in that order.

Lastly Player 4 will start Frosty Mug & invite in order Player 1, 2 & 3.

iOS turn based gaming

There are so many iOS turn based games you can play against friends & randoms. You are spoiled for choice from board games & word games to quiz & drawing.

Thus I have decided to say farewall to a few that I have been playing over the last couple of years.

Firstly Wordfeud, it was always the poor cousin to Words with Friends & just never get the recognition it deserved. Letting you play in various languages & also giving you the option of a random board layout.

Next we have a few Zynga with Friends games that people have just stopped playing Hanging with Friends & Scrabble with Friends. Hanging with Friends took the hangman game and gave it a Zynga paintbrush & Scrabble is basically the Boggle board game with a grid of letters you have to make words to get points.

Lastly I say goodbye to Jenga which is a shame but the notification system on it is just broken & the developers no longer seem interested in fixing the issue.

So what am I currently playing?

Carcassonne, Words with Friends, Hero Academy & Disc Drivin will always be on all my iOS devices because they are all excellent examples of turn based gaming.

Others that I am still playing are Draw Something (iPad only), Song Pop (Although I am quickly getting bored of this), Trivie (again annoying because it is tailored to the US market on the question bank) & Friendle (Backgammon only with random players because no-one seems to be playing this anymore).

I have a few others that I am testing with Abbas & trying to figure out how to play them like Bang, Ticket To Ride & Outwitters. Before I decide on keeping or deleting them.

Trying  a different idea which has worked well on RLLMUK for the next UGVM Disc Drivin Tournament.

This time it is season style, there will be 4 leagues (Platinum, Gold, Silver & Bronze) of 4 players each with the winning player getting promoted & the worst getting demoted to a lower league.

For the first season each player will get chosen at random to get assigned to a league. There will only be 4 races, no tournament rounds that drag on for months just 4 races to decide the winner of each league.

The 4 chosen tracks are Prepare To Qualify, Zoom Zoom, Canyon Jump & Bumper Beware

The first player in the league will start the first track Prepare To Qualify & invite player 2, 3 & 4 in order then Player 2 will start the next race on Zoom Zoom & invite player 3, 4 & then 1. Player 3 will start Canyon Jump & invite Player 4, 1 & 2 in that order. Lastly Player 4 will start Bumper Beware & invite in order Player 1, 2 & 3.

'Custom' Disc Drivin Tournament

I'm not good at this game but there is no denying that it is fun so time to start another tournament.


Depending on numbers my plan is to have groups of 3 playing 3 matches each with 5 points awarded to the winner, 3 to 2nd & 1 point to 3rd.

The starting order will now be rotated ABC, BCA & CAB - once the first turn has been played, it will be easier for you to wait for the other 3 games to catch up so you can play all your turns together.

Disc Drivin - Custom Disc's

The latest update to Disc Drivin gives you the option to have custom disc's. On the default disc you can change the background colour  & the colour of the logo.

There are additional packs for 69p each ranging from starts to shapes. I went for the letters pack & have the letter G on a bright green background.

I failed in the UGVM Disc Drivin tournament & even though I have won the first race in the RLLMUK tournament, I am not doing so good in the others.

I'll post more details shortly about another tournament I will be starting soon where the winning prize is that you get to play against one of the developers of disc drivin.
