Currently Playing 01/12 - Yoku's Island Express

Completed Islanders (will upload review shortly), I went shopping over Black Friday and purchased both the Judgement Games, Assassin Creed Vikings (Valhalla) & some PSN credit which I used to purchase a few games of the PSN store including Yoku's Island Express which I am currently playing. Still cracking on with Fifa with Steven Gerrard icon being my latest purchase and I enjoyed the recent German Squad challenge, Slowly improving my skills and played my first game on World Class Difficulty which I won 3-1.

Not posted in a while, I'm still gaming & completing lots of games!

Mafia 3 finished this weekend, driving is real fun in this gmae & it has no fast travels points which I liked. Set in the 1960s with racial tensions & gang violence you play as Lincoln Clay who returns from a tour in Vietnam to the city of New Bordeaux.

Dragon Quest Builders 2 is out soon so I will be spending a lot of time on that otherwsie it is a lot of Fifa 19 with a little bit of Horzion Turbo Chase & Infamous Second Son.

Fifa 16 - Getting ready for TOTY packs

After finishing Fallout 4 I've gone back to playing Fifa & FUTdraft to collect packs for the TOTY team release this weekend, I've got 12 packs at the moment waiting to open in the hope I can get one TOTY player.

I usually play FUTdraft with the boys and to make it more interesting we are now choosing our selections by blind picks (picking a number & see who we get). This has resulted in some dreadful choices like John Terry, Shane Long or a horrible formation like 5221.

Scored a lovely volley with Hulk, wish me luck for the weekend for a TOTY player.

Fifa 16 - Philippe Coutinho

Fifa is my default goto game if I only have a short amount of time to play, it's perfect for a quick match.

I've now completed my Liverpool team having purchased Daniel Sturridge & I am now concentrating on upgrading my Barclays Premier League team with 80+ rated players, two recent additions include Theo Walcott & Raheem Sterling. Fifa 16 (PS4) - Steven Gerrard

Not had much time for gaming, the odd session of Little Big Planet 3 with the Claptrap Boys or the odd game of Fifa 16 Ultimate Team. Gerrard is much cheaper to purchase now that he is older & slower but he is still the central midfielder & captain of my team.

Need to get back to playing MGSV but I need a longer time window so I can sit down and enjoy for a couple of hours.

New Game - Fifa 16 (PS4)

I've not played a fifa game since 13 so it was a long overdue return to ultimate team. I'm posting this new game post very late because I've been playing the game since release & now have a English 442 Bronze, Silver & Gold Squad. I've started to create my Liverpool squad but some of the players like Sturridge are very expensive to purchase.

I'm saving up my coins at the moment to buy Steven Gerrard, I used to just focus on the cups in Fifa 13 but I've started on the seasons mode this time to see how far I can get.

For now enjoy a couple more cracking goals below.

Fifa - Scissor Kick Goal

Highlighting a video that my son has uploaded to his youtube challenge of an amzing goal he scored at the weekend whilst playing Fifa.

I've not played a Fifa game since 13, we are on a 2 yearly Fifa cycle so I will be buying Fifa 16 on release. Most likely I will get hooked again into playing the ultimate team mode.

Fifa 13 - Liverpool

After spending 120K purchasing Sterling my Liverpool squad is complete.

I have now hit a wall in that I have no other player I want to purchase in ultimate team, so the game is stuck in limbo.

Hoping the game updates after the January transfer window which will give me the incentive to start playing again & hopefully purchase some new players.

Time? maybe partly. Apathy? yes a little. Chore? quite possibly.

For whatever reason I've not been posting much on his blog for the last few months.

I'm still playing Assassins Creed 3, finishing a sequence & then completing the various side quests from The Hunting Society to the Homestead missions. Abbas has complained much about this game & is overall disappointed. I think the main issue is after three games with Ezio he misses the character.

I however am enjoying the game very much & like how they have not forced any of the side missions on you, the climbing of trees can be a bit hit & miss & the generation of money is a slower process.

Apart from AC3, I have Borderlands 2 overkill with four games on the go, two UGVM pmgs (usually Monday/Thursday), local co-op with my daughter & a single player campaign I have not touched for weeks.

Fifa 13 I have hit the inevitable decline partly due to the fact I now have a full Liverpool squad including Gerard, Suarez & Sterling. I have not played a match in a few weeks but I am keeping an eye on my trade pile via the web or iphone app.

Everything else on the consoles is in limbo.

iOS gaming is mostly still multi-player in Carcassonne, Ticket to Ride, Lost Cities, Disc Drivin & Words. Single player is taken up by the Angry Birds advent calender in Seasons & current favourite Middle Manager of Justice.

Expect a few more posts on some of the above games over the next few days whilst I try to rekindle my love for this blog  I also need to update the splurge since August.

Fifa 13 - Gerrard

Ultimate Team is no different to any other time sink game. The lure of buying & selling players, playing matches & winning trophies. All in the pursuit of having enough coins to purchase Steven Gerrard of course !!

That is true when I got to 20k, I could have spent the money on improving my silver team or laying the foundations for the gold team but no I continued to play matches & dabble in the players market for bargains to buy.


Those bargains I would then sell at a higher price to increase my wealth. 30k came around very quickly & then 40k. I could easily have purchase a 442 Gerrard & still have 20k left in change.

After many more frustrating screams from the boys I decided to at least look. Playing a 442 system I wanted a CM Gerrard which was difficult with the majority CAM listed. The two 442 CMs that were listed, the asking price of 26K & 28K was too much for me to splash out.

Having played nearly 90 matches & only EA knows how many cards I have sold on the trade pile to accumulate my cash. I don't want to spend it on one player with 70+ pace.

I was happy to buy Beckham, Allen, Borini, Carroll etc for my gold squad because they only cost me around 500 coins each but 25K+ !! for one player?!

The other option was to purchase a cheap CAM & then buy a player change card CAM > CM but these were costing around 3K if you could find them !!

One of my big annoyances with ultimate team is the search engine when looking for managers, formations cards or player cards you can't drill down the search to a specific type which results in either spending a lot of time searching for an auction or going silly money on a buy it now. Usually after a few minutes of searching I would give up.

Anyhow gripe over back to Gerrard a cheap CAM was out of the question thanks to the over inflated prices for player change cards.

I had purchased some 442 formation cards a few days earlier approx 1K each although I did get one for a bargain 200 coins.

I amended the search and found a 14K 541 CM Gerrard on a buy it now.

BUY !! Shouted the boys so I obliged.

To cut a long story short (yes I know this post is long enough already)

I changed the formation to 442, applied gold contracts upto 98, played a couple of matches with Gerrard in my silver squad.

Then the del boy trotter came out in me & I listed him for 30K (he has not yet sold)

New Game - Fifa 13

The last few weeks apart from the odd session on Borderlands 2 most of my time has been spent playing Fifa 13 & in particular the Ultimate Team mode.

For those that do not know Ultimate Team is management mode in which you buy & sell players to build your squad & compete in various tournaments & seasons.

By winning in matches & selling players you get coins which you can use to purchase players, contracts & other items.

It is very addictive gameplay which is why Borderlands 2, Uncharted 2 & Skyrim have taken a back seat.

I have played 50 matches with 49 wins & one defeat. My bronze squad is now complete with all 70+ pace players & even quite a few 80+ players. My silver squad is still a work in progress because finding English 442 players are very difficult on the cheap.

I have managed to purchase quite a few bargains inc a 94 contract bronze LM (Left Midfield)  for only 200 coins !!

Now I just need to find some English Silver CB (Centre Back)

Fifa 11 Ultimate Team - Completed

After winning 12 cups with the Krazy Khans, I have no choice but to call it day & retire. Not because I want to but because the game keeps freezing & locking up my xbox 360 when I go into the trading section. A quick search on google shows this to be a common problem but alas no fix from EA.

So I wish a fond farewell to my Krazy Khan, Bronze, Silver, Gold & Liverpool squads. I never did get enough money to purchase Messi but I did manage to get Stevie G for Liverpool. Abbas has given up on the game but Monster is still playing so I will now transfer over any players he wants & sell the rest of my squad to pass him over the money so he may have a chance of buying Messi. After being away from the football genre for a very long while, I have enjoyed my time with Fifa 11 & will be purchasing Fifa 13 later in the year.

Fifa 11 Ultimate Team - Contracts 67

In ultimate team all players need a contract to play matches, you can either purchase contracts from trading or buy a pack of cards from the store. A bronze pack costing 400 coins will usually give you 3 or 4 contracts to use.

You also need to keep hold on injury healing cards very valuable when your star striker gets injured. My RM (right midfielder) was recently injured & I did not have a healing card so I went looking for a bronze 442 RM player. I only buy players that have a pace of 70+ & are at least 60+ in their respective skill so for the midfielder he needed to have a 60+ in passing.

I found Lee Croft who was English (this was good for my team chemistry) had a pace of 72, formation was 442 & had a passing skill of 62 but he was listed for 1400 coins. Very expensive for a bronze player I thought even if Abbas was saying buy him.

I then went back to my squad and put my french RM on the pitch for the next match instead. After winning the Amateur Cup I returned back to the trading section to continue my search for an English 442 RM again Lee Croft came up in the search for 1400 coins. Abbas again said "Buy him ! you need him, does not matter if he is expensive" and he then followed up by saying "fine, let me sign into my team so I can buy him". I checked the rest of his information, fitness, morale etc & then came to contract which had the value of 67 !!

67 !! the boys screamed, most players on the trading section either have 7 matches or 0 matches on the contract field but 67 !! Without hesitating I clicked buy it now for 1400 coins, easily the bargain of the century.

Fifa 11 Ultimate Team - Bronze Cup

The Krazy Khans won their first trophy, I now need to delve into the transfer market to find a few cheap players before I go for the next trophy.

Fifa 11 Ultimate Team - Krazy Khans

I have not played a football game with any interest since the SNES days with Striker & ISS. Football management games possibly since Kick Off World & Ultimate Soccer Manager 98.

Fifa 11 the football game does not interest me because I am no good at it & end up getting beaten quite easily. The boys have been playing the Ultimate Team the last few weeks & the management side of the game has interested me so after finding out about the basics I decided it was time for the Krazy Khans to shine in the world of football.

After choosing my starting line-up from the player cards dealt to me at the start of the game, I signed up for a bronze tournament & within seconds I had scored my first goal (click this link to see the video on the EA site).

The first match ended with me winning 9-0 & more importantly has hooked me back into the world of football gaming. Now I need to delve into the transfer market to find some players.
